A recently discovered flower of this type has been deemed the world's ugliest.

YOU ANSWERED CORRECTLY!

Answer: Orchid

About The Answer:

A newly discovered orchid species has been labeled the ugliest in the world. This particular orchid, Gastrodia agnicellus, was found in a Madagascar forest under leaves in the deep woods. As an orchid, it is a perennial plant, meaning it lives for more than two years. It spends most of its life underground, only coming out to bear its fruit and disperse its seeds. Most orchids depend upon their fungus symbiote for food at the beginning of their lives, but this unique orchid has no leaves and therefore no cells for photosynthesis, so it depends on its fungus to maintain itself through its life span. Despite its appearance, the flower has a fresh, citrusy smell and is quite pleasant. Don’t look for it to appear at your local florist, however.

Great job!
