What color are Dorothy's slippers in the 1900 book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz?"

YOU ANSWERED CORRECTLY!

Answer: Silver

About The Answer:

Dorothy’s famous magical slippers in the 1900 book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” were silver. When M.G.M. released the 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz,” they changed the color to ruby red to “pop” more from the new color cinematography, Technicolor. The ruby red slippers contrast a great deal against the yellow-brick road. There are four known pairs of red shoes used during filming that have survived. One pair is in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, and another pair was stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in 2005 but was recovered by police thirteen years later. The remaining two pairs are located at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Museum in Los Angeles and Oz Park, part of Chicago’s Lincoln Park. Each pair are valued from anywhere from one to three million dollars.
