Although it looks white, polar bears’ fur is clear! Polar bears’ skin, although, is black. How weird! When you look at a polar bear, it would be stupid not to say they are white, but it only appears white. The fur pieces are hollow, which creates a space in each hair that makes it look this way. The polar bear, as you can see, is very camouflage. Notice how the polar bear fits right in with the snow around it? The skin is black because the bear can absorb the heat from the sun better this way. The sun, the thick, coarse fur, and the fatty layer that the bear has, work together to keep the polar bear warm with the cold environment in which it lives.
