French Guiana is a region of France and shares a 453-mile border with Brazil. French Guiana is a region of France, much like any state is a region of the United States. The Oyapock River separates much of French Guiana from Brazil. The Oyapock River Bridge is the only bridge crossing the borders, from Saint-Georges, French Guiana, to and from Oiapoque, Brazil. French Guiana has the largest national park in the European Union, the Guiana Amazonian Park, and is one of the world’s largest national parks. It covers 7,838 square miles. French Guiana is also home to the Guiana Space Centre, in operation since 1968.
