Most people consider the hamburger to be the national dish of America, but the topic is hotly contested. The hamburger has been called the “Quintessential American Meal” by the Smithsonian, and with summer beginning, it is the number one item prepared on grills at barbeques across the nation. Countless restaurants specialize in creating the ultimate burger, with innumerable toppings and dressings. The popular animated TV series “Bob’s Burgers” features a daily burger special in the background, and there is even a recipe book based on those specials. Some may argue chicken wings, a relative newcomer and a popular bar food, are America’s national dish.
