Astro is the name of the Jetson’s family dog. Astro is George Jetson’s treasured pet and confidant, as well as his son Elroy’s favorite companion. Astro’s catchphrase was “Ruh-Roh, Reorge!” (for uh-oh, George!). Amazingly, the Jetsons only lasted for one season and 24 episodes when it was first released in 1962. After cancellation, reruns moved to the Saturday AM cartoon lineup, and it did very well with that audience. New episodes were produced in 1985 and 1987, boosting total shows to 75. The Jetsons is set in the futuristic world of 2062. Many of the technologies presented in the show are commonplace today. The Jetson family consists of “George Jetson. His Boy Elroy. Daughter Judy. Jane his wife.” Astro, along with Rosie, the robot maid, rounded out the family unit.
