When was the first drone built?

YOU ANSWERED INCORRECTLY!

Answer: 1917

About The Answer:

Archibald M. Low constructed and flew the first drone in 1917. The first drone was a self-propelled device intended as an unmanned craft capable of attacking German airships that regularly bombed London. Code named Aerial Target, its first flights, demonstrated the ability to receive and respond to commands from the ground. This feat was accomplished only fourteen years after the Wright Brother’s first flight. The drone’s guidance system was considered top secret, and Low kept it close and secure. By 1918, the remote control system was adapted for use in 40-foot boats, uncrewed and loaded with explosives, and intended as floating, controllable torpedos.
