The world’s tallest filing cabinet is located in Burlington, VT. It is over 50 feet tall, made from real filing cabinets welded on top of one another. It was created by Bren Alvarez as a sculptural statement, protesting construction delays in a highway meant to connect to downtown Burlington. It’s 38 drawers are intended to represent 38 years of paperwork related to the project. The other choices are Burlington, Vermont’s sister cities, classified as long-term partnerships between the two cities. Those partnerships are designed to promote intercultural understanding and interpersonal connections. None can claim the world’s tallest filing cabinet, however.
