Whom did Pocahontas marry?
YOU ANSWERED INCORRECTLY!
Answer: John Rolfe
About The Answer:
Pocahontas married John Rolfe on April 5, 1614, in Jamestown (what is known as Delaware today). John Rolfe was an Englishman who came over to the colonies but lost his wife on son on the journey to the new world. Peace between the colonists and the local Indians, the Powhatan, were deteriorating, so English Captain Samual Argall took Pocahontas hostage to force a truce. While a captive, Pocahontas was treated as a guest and encouraged to learn English customs. During this time, she fell in love with John Rolfe, who was a local tobacco farmer. Their marriage brought peace to the colonists and the Powhatans. She soon gave birth to their first child.
